Topic 3

The last topic I’ve considered for this I.C. essay is personal. I believe there is something seriously wrong with the way Child Protective Services runs. It has been my personal experience that no one wants to get his or her hands dirty when helping a child. It is probably easier to just write the child off as someone whom cannot be helped. I can’t imagine how many children are turned away from the doors of CPS agencies simply because f the fact that their problems are just not “bad” enough for CPS to step in. This is a topic I am extremely passionate about and actually is something I am considering turning into an occupation. I want to somehow help abused children by either joining the government or making a change within the CPS agency. I could easily write about this topic and form proposals on how to make a change.

Maggie,

It seems like you have made a lot of progress in figuring out a topic and what you are passionate about. I love the idea of writing a paper about Child Protective Services because it is definitely relevant and you could propose an answer to this one more so than say, AIDS in Africa. his is also an issue that not many people know about, so it will engage your audience.

After I read your topic ideas, this one made me think of Jackie Webster, an alum. She was very interested in social workers and getting engaged in children's lives. I think it is great that you would consider turning this idea into an occupation.

Keep up the good work!

DOOLEY...WAIT FOR MEEEEEE!
oh wow, when I read your blog I could like feel the passion in it. I think your topic is excellent. I have had several foster counsins and friends and some of the things they have told me is insane. I don't understand why people who aren't passionate about helping children, or like them for that matter, get involved in this career. CPS is so shady and to turn a child away for not having a "bad" enough problem is rediculous. Maybe it's not that "bad" to them, but anything can traumatize a child based on personality and where they've conme from. But kids don't even need a reason, if they feel any sort of danger then CPS should be jumping on that case ASAP. i don't know if that made any sense or if you were talking about any of that, but I thought I would just say it anyway lol

hey DOOLEY!

Oh wow, this would be an amazing topic for you to consider. This is something that I am really passionate about also. The CPS is a big organization, but I do not think they are fulfilling what are they are capable of doing. Therefore, I totally agree with your side of this situation. Sometimes it makes you think that they are even scared to step into the situation even though it is really their job. They are called "Child Protective" Services for a reason.

This topic makes me think about the latest incident with the little three year old girl. By the way, the girl was absolutely beautiful! But the news explains how her mom and her mom`s boyfriend were basically "working" on killing the girl. The guy would hang her up on the door for like 20 minutes as punishment. I cannot remember the specifics, but the explanations of the punishments were ridiculous. It is amazing how they got to eventually kill her without any action being taken place.

I think this would be a good topic for your contract. Good luck with this and happy research!
